I looked up what the term “doula” actually means and although most commonly applied to childbirth, a doula is any woman who assists another with emotional support- particularly before, during, or after a key event.
I didn’t realize how critical this would be on the day of my wedding until I was in it. Prior to the big day, Tamar provided me with tools and techniques that would help me stay focused on the things I told her were meaningful to me and guidance through difficult or anxiety-causing decisions. But the real value was on the day of.
Her mere presence is soothing and supportive and I found myself relying on her much more than I thought I would. When everyone is moving and busy-ness is all around, having her with me, reminding me of my goals for the day was a welcomed respite- relief from the logistics, family stressors and action that was going on.
She kept me in the moment, helped me silence the noise, and gave me the gift of presence of body and mind on the most important day of my life.

Tamar served as a Wedding Doula for my daughter’s wedding. We had never used a doula for our previous weddings and I wasn’t sure we needed one. How wrong I was!
Not only did Tamar meet with my daughter many times before the wedding, teaching her how to relax, addressing any pre-wedding issues that came up, and discussing what was important to the bride, she was excellent at trouble shooting on the day of the wedding.
As it turned out, our wedding planner was a horrible choice, and when she lost an important ritual item for the ceremony, Tamar came to the rescue, providing a reasonable substitute right away. Even though she was hired for the bride, in the end, her calm energy and gentle nature, kept us all calm! I would highly recommend Tamar as a Wedding Doula!
